2009 Deputy Governor's History Research Programme Theme AnnouncedMonday, April 6 – The Deputy Governor’s Office has announced the theme of the third Deputy Governor’s History Research Programme as “General Topics of Virgin Islands History”.
Chief Records Management Officer Mrs. Verna Penn Moll told the Department of Information and Public Relations the theme was chosen to accommodate a high level of participation as it embraces a wide range of subjects.
Participants are invited to research the history of any village or area; person or building; historic ruins; cultural activity/custom/tradition; sport; socio-economic activity or religious movement in the Virgin Islands.
Each participant must fill out an application form. Entries are governed by the rules of the programme. Entry forms and rules are available from the Help Desk at the Central Administration Complex and the Archives Unit located upstairs the Burhym Building on de Castro Street.
Mrs. Penn Moll added that, “in order to assist persons needing guidance on how to approach a research project, the Deputy Governor’s Office is sponsoring a research workshop for beginners and also for experienced researchers who may need re-orientation.
The workshop will be held on April 28 and will be facilitated by Dr. Patricia Turnbull of RainWater Institute and other resource persons.
