Government Signs Contract for Security at the Virgin Gorda Administration Complex

GOVERNMENT SIGNS CONTRACT FOR SECURITY AT THE VIRGIN GORDA ADMINISTRATION COMPLEX

Wednesday, April 1 – Government has signed a contract worth $105,120.00 for the security of the Virgin Gorda Administration Complex.

Premier and Minister for Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE signed the contract on March 27 with Mr. Leon George of Virgin Gorda Security to provide security for the Administration Complex, which includes: visible deterrence, foot patrol surveillance, building checks and responding to all emergency calls among other duties.

Honourable O’Neal congratulated Mr. George for being awarded the contract and expressed his pleasure in seeing the legacy that was started by his father continuing today.  “It is very pleasing to see our own people participating in the orderly development of our islands and for this I give you my warmest congratulations and wish you well,” the Premier added.

Mr. George expressed his gratitude for being awarded the contract and given the opportunity to serve the Government and people of the Virgin Islands. “I am encouraged to see the interest the Government has in continuing to encourage local businesses to serve the community,” Mr. George said.

He added, “for over 25 years Virgin Gorda Security, which was founded by my father, the late Leo George, has been serving this Territory and his children and will continue to do their best to give the best service…to meet the needs of this Territory.”

Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office Ms. Julia Christopher, chaired the brief ceremony and witnessed the Premier’s signature on behalf of Government.  She expressed her thanks on behalf of the Deputy Governor’s Office to everyone involved in preparing the document.

The Government of the Virgin Islands remains committed to providing a safe working environment for civil servants as well as providing job opportunities for local businesses.
